Benefits of joining online dating?

well i recently created an online dating profile (ill leave the name of the site blank, i will say its one of the most advertised), well i joined it because of my schedule and other reasons. my question is, is it worth the time and money, do you think the majority of people on these sites are real and not "bots"... whats your opinion do you think there is any pros or cons to it?
