Ms. Knox; how would she have fared if she was found guilty in certain states of North America?

Mrs. Clinton, Senator Cantwell and others are acting like their country is the only one in the world that has proper methods of - er...justice (the execution states notwithstanding). Realise this question - or variations thereof - have popped up quite frequently over the past week - with many more clearer than mine, but (damn)...shouldn't Amanda Knox pray that she wasn't up in a Texas, Mississippi or another court which still handed out executions
