Help on installing ipodlinux?

I'm trying to install ipodlinux on a 4 GB white 1st generation ipod nano. Multiple errors come up when the installation is about 95% done. I've already fixed t he syntax error. Yet when I try installing again, it says that linux has already installed. I try to reboot the ipod then but it just boots into the apple firmware. Help?
